I have started working on a new series on photographs that I am aiming to continue until I feel I have fully expressed what I aimed to achieve, I suppose.
As a child, I always made up characters, starting off with every cuddly toy in my collection having a unique personality, to role playing online with my friends until the wee hours of the morning, and currently now LARPing until I'm so tired my eyeballs feel like they're bleeding. So fantasy and characters are a very big thing for me.
As someone whose never stopped imagining, I find it difficult to understand why my friends, co-workers, family etc seemed to have stopped playing as they got older. I couldn't help but feel I would be betraying my past self and all the characters I had loved and given life to if I stopped imagining.
My new series is called Those We've Left Behind. I'll be working with a team of models and hair and make up artists to create a series of images based on the theme of imagination and stories being left behind. The characters frozen in the position we left them in.
I have no idea where this'll take me, and who might end up getting involved in the process. But here, at the start of all things, these characters are all my own creation. The designs and the costumes are all made by myself.
I hope you enjoy the series, anyone who is bothered to read this, and any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
